Slovenia in Eurovision


Slovenia has participated in Eurovision since 1993 when they competed in 'Kvalifikacija za Millstreet', the first 'Semi final' of Eurovision. They won the contest and progressed to Eurovision 1993. They have competed in almost every Eurovision contest sinces, missing 1994 and 2000.


Slovenia has qualified for the final six times since the official semi-final system started in 2004. Their highest finish has been 7th twice in 1995 and 2001. In recent years, there has been mixed results with qualification and in the Grand Final, with the best result in the last 10 contests coming from 2011 with Maja Keuc with 'No One' finishing 13th. Last year, Ana Soklič with 'Amen' was unable to qualify coming 13th in the semi-final with 44 points

About the artists


LPS, an acronym for Last Pizza Slice, are a young band from Celje, Slovenia. They formed in 2018 from the Music rooms of Grammar School Celje-Center.


The band consists of Filip Vidušin on Vocals, Gašper Hlupič on Drums, Mark Semeja on Electric Guitar, Zala Velenšek on Bass, Tenor and Alto Saxophone and Žiga Žvižej on Electric Keyboard.


The band has performed in numerous festivals and concerts around Slovenia


About the song


LPS' song this year is called 'Disko'. It is sung entirely in Slovene and the writers of the song include all five band members and Jakob Korošec. The song was the last song of the Eurovision 2022 class to be released on streaming services. The song could be described as being a late night 70s disco style song



How they were chosen for Eurovision


EMA Freš and EMA returned after a years absence to select the artist to represent Slovenia in Turin. LPS was select to take part in EMA Freš and was one of four acts to progress to EMA. LPS then won the semi-final and also progressed to the Final where the Band came second in the Jury votes with 43 points and then came first in the televote with 60 point to take out the title.
