Delta Goodrem's performance at Eurovision 2026 receives Australian Government funding.
A media release on Tuesday 5 May 2026 by the Honourable Tony Burke MP, Minister for the Arts, has said that Australia is receiving funding support from the Australian Government.
"Australia’s attendance is enabled through funding from the International Cultural Diplomacy Arts Fund, which supports our global cultural engagement to increase access to international audiences."
What is the International Cultural Diplomacy Arts Fund?
The International Cultural Diplomacy Arts Fund (ICDAF) is an Australian Government funding program that supports arts and cultural projects which help promote Australia internationally through cultural exchange, performance, exhibitions, festivals, collaboration and creative partnerships.
It is administered by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts and was established in 2015 and is designed to:
support Australia’s international cultural engagement
strengthen cultural diplomacy and international relationships
help Australia meet international arts and culture commitments
showcase Australian artists and creative industries overseas
Projects funded through ICDAF have included:
Australian performers touring internationally
First Nations arts collaborations
Australian showcases at major world festivals
creative exchanges with countries in Asia and Europe
international exhibitions and conferences
support for Australian artists appearing at events like Eurovision-related activities, Expo Osaka, Edinburgh Fringe and Venice Biennale-linked programs.
A further quote by the Minister for the Arts, Tony Burke says:
“Eurovision uses geo-blocking to prevent anyone from voting in their own country for their own artist, but that doesn’t mean we can’t help. Any Australian who’s travelling or has the phone number of anyone else in any other country, you know what to do.”
Have any other Australian acts received Government funding?
Yes actually: Electric Fields in 2024 received ICDAF funding, in 2025 Go Jo received a mix of ICDAF and Music Australia funding, and now Delta Goodrem in 2026.
In 2023, Voyager received funding from the WA Government through the Contemporary Music Fund and Tourism WA.
While not strictly Government funding, in 2019 Kate Miller-Heidke used the Australian Cultural Fund platform operated by Creative Australia to raised over $60,000 towards the costs of performing her epic sky-high performance.
Australia will compete in semi-final 2 of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest on 14 May 2026 in Vienna.
