Delta Goodrem returns to the Commonwealth Games for Glasgow closing ceremony

Australia's Eurovision 2026 representative Delta Goodrem will return to the Commonwealth Games stage next month after being announced as a performer at the Glasgow 2026 Closing Ceremony.

Delta will perform during the ceremony on August 2, joining an international line-up celebrating the end of the Games before the handover to the next host city, Ahmedabad, India.

The appearance continues Delta's long association with the Commonwealth Games, having previously performed at both the Melbourne 2006 and Gold Coast 2018 opening ceremonies.

Third Commonwealth Games ceremony

Delta first became part of Commonwealth Games history when she performed Together We Are One at the opening ceremony of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

The performance at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was watched by a capacity crowd and television audiences around the world, becoming one of the defining musical moments of those Games.

She returned 12 years later to headline the opening ceremony of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Performing barefoot, Delta debuted her anthem Welcome to Earth alongside 15 drummers and a 72-piece choir at Carrara Stadium.

Her Glasgow appearance will mark a third Commonwealth Games ceremony performance across a 20-year period.

A big year for Delta

Earlier this year, Delta represented Australia at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna with Eclipse.

She finished fourth in the Grand Final with Eclipse, giving Australia its best Eurovision result in a decade and earning widespread praise for her vocal performance.

The Glasgow appearance is another major international performance in what has already been a landmark year for the Australian singer.

She also announced her World Tour which takes place next year.

Jessica Mauboy also took the Glasgow stage

Delta won't be the first Australian Eurovision artist to perform at a Commonwealth Games ceremony in Glasgow.

After representing Australia as Eurovision's interval act in Copenhagen in 2014, Jessica Mauboy performed Sea of Flags during the closing ceremony of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games later that year.

Jessica's performance formed part of the handover celebrations as the Commonwealth Games were passed from Glasgow to Australia's Gold Coast ahead of the 2018 Games.

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will be held from 23 July to 2 August and will be broadcast live in Australia on Seven and 7plus.
