Claude to represent The Netherlands at Eurovision 2025

Overnight, The Netherlands revealed that singer-songwriter Claude will be representing the nation at Eurovision in Basel.

Claude was chosen after a careful, phased process that Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS conducted after receiving 331 entries in its call for song submissions.

This year’s contestant for the Netherlands, Joost Klein had been offered the chance to try again following his disqualification after an incident involving a camerawoman but decided against it.

About Claude

Singer-songwriter Claude Kiambe will represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland in May 2025.

The 21-year-old was born in Congo and has been living in the Netherlands for about eight years. He performs only under his first name and is perhaps best known for his 2022 hit, Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot), which charted in more than 15 countries.

It was the English-French version of the song that was a hit. It cracked the top ten in Italy, according to AVROTROS. The Dutch-language version spent 30 weeks on the Domestic top 40 chart, and remained on the Single Top 100 list for 55 of 56 weeks.

Claude and his family encountered the Eurovision Song Contest here for the first time in 2014, cheering together as Conchita Wurst won. A yearly tradition was born and Claude has continued to follow the Eurovision Song Contest ever since. 

Claude released his debut album in Parler Français in 2024, on which he co-wrote all the songs himself. With it, he's been able to tour the Netherlands and Belgium with his band. 

Claude now continues to impress on an international scale. And now with the international release of Layla, Claude strengthened his position as an artist with global allure.

Claude is eagerly looking forward to 2025; a year in which, in addition to the Eurovision Song Contest, he is going to shine at the legendary Pinkpop Festival. Although his journey has really only just begun, Claude has already proven - thanks to his boundless performance energy, sold-out shows and millions of streams - that he is set to be a lasting force in the music industry.
