Burgas announced as Eurovision Song Contest 2027 host city with dates also revealed

It's official - we are heading to Burgas Eurovision Song Contest 2027!
The Bulgarian broadcaster made the announcement on a live stream tonight.
The Grand Final will be held on Saturday 15 May at the Arena Burgas with semi-finals earlier the same week on Tuesday 11 May and Thursday 13 May.
A whole week of activities will take place around the Contest in Burgas, with more details to be revealed in the coming months.
A website was also revealed for the specific Bulgarian host city https://eurovision2027.bg/

EBU statement
Martin Green CBE, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest siad he was "delighted" Burgas had been selected.
“Burgas brings something really special to the Eurovision Song Contest. It is a vibrant, welcoming city on the Black Sea with a strong musical and cultural identity, and it has the ambition, infrastructure and passion needed to welcome the Eurovision family," he said.
“For the first Eurovision Song Contest ever to be held in Bulgaria, we want to create something that feels truly Bulgarian while also being unmistakably Eurovision – a celebration that brings people together through music.
“We thank all of the cities which showed such enthusiasm in their bids to host Bulgaria’s first ever Eurovision Song Contest.
“Together with BNT, the City of Burgas and our partners across Bulgaria, we are looking forward to creating an unforgettable Eurovision week in May and welcoming the world to Burgas.”

“It was an intense and highly competitive process, so congratulations to Burgas! With this victory comes great responsibility, and I hope the ultimate winners will be the many international visitors who come to experience Burgas.
“The selection of the Host City marks the beginning of the next key stage in Bulgaria’s preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. BNT, the EBU and Burgas now have an intensive period of collaboration ahead of us as we work together to deliver a Contest that meets the high expectations of millions of viewers around the world.
“I am confident that Bulgaria will be a worthy host of Europe’s biggest live music television event and will showcase the very best of our culture, hospitality and professionalism.”

The road to Burgas
Bulgaria won the right to host Eurovision 2027 following DARA's shock win at this year's contest in Vienna, with her song Bangaranga.
Where is Burgas?
Burgas is on Bulgaria's black sea coast and while it has only a population of 188,000, it is a very popular place for tourism and Burgas already has a large airport that handles a lot of these tourists each year.
The venue Arena Burgas has a 15,000 concert capacity.

The city of Burgas has accommodation capacity of approximately 4,000 beds plus many more in the resort towns that are in close proximity to Burgas.
In the press conference, they revealed more flights would be connected during Eurovision, including from Istanbul.
