Bachelor Girl reimagine debut album with Eurovision star collaborations

Australian pop duo Bachelor Girl are celebrating one of Australia's most beloved pop albums with a Eurovision-flavoured twist.
Australian duo Bachelor Girl, featuring Tania Doko and James Roche, have announced Waiting for the Day: Artist Sessions, a reimagined version of their acclaimed debut album featuring collaborations with Australian Eurovision stars including Delta Goodrem, Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian, just to name a few.
Set for release on 7 August, the 15-track project sees Bachelor Girl revisit each song alongside hand-picked guest artists they've worked with, toured with or formed friendships with throughout their career.
Who are Bachelor Girl?
Bachelor Girl burst onto the Australian music scene in the late 1990s with their multi-platinum debut album Waiting for the Day, which featured enduring hits including Buses and Trains, Permission to Shine, Lucky Me and more.
Front woman Tania Doko is also well known to Eurovision fans.
In 2019, she competed in Eurovision – Australia Decides with the song Piece of Me where she finished in 8th place.
Tania also co-wrote Pushing Stars for Australia Decides 2020 and We Are from Junior Eurovision 2016 for Australia.
While Bachelor Girl have continued to release new music and tour in recent years, Waiting for the Day: Artist Sessions sees the duo breathe new life into the album that introduced them to Australian audiences over two decades ago.
Eurovision favourites feature throughout the album
Eurovision fans will spot several familiar names among the collaborators, with many of Australia's Eurovision representatives and Eurovision – Australia Decides alumni appearing across the record.
Leading the list is Australia's inaugural Eurovision representative Guy Sebastian who features on Permission To Shine, while Jessica Mauboy, who represented Australia in 2018, appears on Treat Me Good.
Both songs have been released so far.
Delta Goodrem, who joins Bachelor Girl on a new version of their signature hit Buses and Trains represented Australia at Eurovision 2026, delivering the country's best result in a decade with a fourth-place finish with Eclipse.
Also taking part is Sheppard, who competed in Eurovision – Australia Decides in 2019. The band features on a reworked version of My World. George and Amy from the band have also co-written Australia's Eurovision 2025 song Milkshake Man and George co-wrote Pushing Stars from Australia Decides 2020.
The Eurovision connections continue with Courtney Act, a fan favourite from Eurovision – Australia Decides 2019 and current Aussie Eurovision commentator, who lends her vocals to Lucky Me.
Ella Hooper from Killing Heidi also competed in the inaugural Australia Decides with Data Dust, she features on the song Blown Away.
Michael Paynter, features on the song I Don't Believe You. He has co-written three Eurovision songs, Bite Me for G-Nation at Australia Decides in 2022, and Junior Eurovision songs Champion (2018) and We Will Rise (2019) for Australia.
Darren Hayes of the group Savage Garden, was a former jury member for Australia Decides 2022 he sings on the song Blind.
Together, the collaborations make the album a celebration of Australian music, with Eurovision related artists sitting alongside fellow stars including NERVO, Jack Jones, Jon Stevens, Tommy Emmanuel, Kaylee Bell, WILSN and Suze DeMarchi.
A labour of love
Bachelor Girl described the project as a "dreamboat collaboration" and a true labour of love after more than 18 months of work.
The duo said they selected artists they had "written, recorded, toured, friend-ed and/or hung out with", creating what they called a "heartwarming, handpicked collective" of Australian musicians.
Rather than inviting a guest for every song, Bachelor Girl chose to keep the album's title track, Waiting For The Day, for themselves, as they traditionally perform it live as a duo.

Fans will also be able to hear many of the reimagined songs live, with Bachelor Girl continuing their WAITING FOR THE DAY REDUX Tour across Australia.
The duo revealed that several dates have already sold out, with additional regional Australian shows planned for early 2027.
With so many Eurovision and Australia Decides artists contributing to the project, Waiting for the Day: Artist Sessions is shaping up to be one of the most Eurovision-connected Australian releases of the year—and one that fans of both Bachelor Girl and the Contest won't want to miss.
