Melbourne born singer Stephen Amos has won the ‘Tears Getting Sober’ cover competition, for performing the Bulgarian entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
The competition, put together by Bulgaria's entrant Victoria herself, asked singers from all over the world to send in their version of her song 'Tears Getting Sober'.
Victoria and her team then watched and judged over 50 performances, selecting Stephen as the winner.
Stephen is a 24-year-old singer and teacher who has a Bachelor of Music from Monash University.
He starred in the State Schools Spectacular in 2013 and 2014, and has since performed in a number of shows including 'Parade', 'Heathers', 'Ordinary Days' and 'Next to Normal'.
Stephen has both Australian and Greek heritage, which has fuelled his interest in the Eurovision over the years.
His winning prize for the ‘Tears Getting Sober’ cover competition is an opportunity to join an online music session with Victoria and her songwriting team for her upcoming album.
The competition results have been widely reported across the Bulgarian media, including their national broadcaster who have been promoting Stephen and his performance of the song.
A big congratulations to Stephen from all of us at Aussievision!
