Well the wait is over, and Australia has our artist Delta Goodrem with her song Eclipse. Now we know, we can all get down to the important task of analysing and working out how well our newly crowned Eurovision Queen will do at Eurovision 2026. Since the song's release just a few hours ago, Australia has soared in the odds!
We have compiled a few of the Aussievision team's reactions to Eclipse.
"Eclipse is so Delta coded and made for the Eurovision stage! It has a catchy chorus with a huge build up, with a key change. I haven’t stopped listening to it. It’s great to finally see Delta represent Australia! I am so pumped for this." ~Kyriakos
"Eclipse is a really solid entry for Australia which is so important with the return of the juries to the semi-finals. As always with Delta, the vocals are strong and the piano sections elevate it even more. The video gives a great impression and the lyrical content lends itself well to a multitude of staging possibilities. I can't wait to see what Delta brings to her live performance and hope that Europe love her just as much as we do! Great choice Australia!" ~Emma
"I have two words to summarise how I'm feeling after hearing this for the first time: F**K YES! It's the entry we knew Delta was capable of and captures everything that is special about her - the piano, the high notes, the great song structure, it has it all. Most importantly she packs all this in while covering ticking all the boxes needed for a classic Eurovision song. Thank you and well done SBS for getting this right. I'm looking forward to seeing all the doubters in Europe squirm at the thought of a possible Australia victory. Because this is exactly what this track is going to do. We are back and we mean business" ~Kiel
"Good for Delta for putting her hand up. She's definitely got people talking, especially in Australia. She's got the pedigree to perform and elevate this otherwise pedestrian pop song." ~Paul
"I'm over the moon that Delta Goodrem and Eclipse are representing Australia at Eurovision this year! This polished, elegant, refined ballad has plenty of beautiful details that are very engaging, as well as plenty of powerful vocal moments, and I keep wanting to go back and listen to it again and again. The visuals in the music video are stunning and I hope that they can be translated well to the stage in Vienna! The reaction on the ground in the UK has been extremely positive and my mum in Australia is excited about our entry too, it's an entry we can be really proud of. I'm hopefully we will get a Top 5 result in May!" ~Laura
"Eclipse has overshadowed the competition! I haven't been this excited about an Aussie entry since Dami Im. The song is epic and dramatic without going too far into cheesy, it's definitely built for a live performance. Delta is a live performer too so when we see this in rehearsals, another wave of momentum is gonna hit and Australia will be riding high on it!"~ Cooper
"We're back baby! I particularly like the start and when the song ramps up in beat. There is no doubt she will nail the vocals and she will look glam while doing it. This song and production sounds very expensive! A very solid effort this year, I see this as a Top 10 contender and should do well with the juries. My only negative with Eclipse is the cheesy lyrics!" ~Hayley
"I've had Delta on repeat all morning, and the song just keeps on getting better and better with every listen. This is exactly the entry Australia needs, not just to be competitive but to seriously challenge for the win. I'm so excited to see her perform it live, Delta is going to deliver a powerhouse performance only she could pull off! Delta is going to be so good for Australia's ongoing participation. Not only will she get us back into the top tier of Eurovision, but we can hope to attract a higher quality of artist in her shadow for the new few years." ~Joel
"This is exactly the pop power ballad I have been craving and that we have been missing this season. The chorus got stuck in my head on first listen which is a good sign. It has strong staging potential and is a jury winner contender in May." ~Srdjan
"Delta Goodrem is a talent for the ages and she’s brought all her musical savvy to Eclipse. She knows Eurovision, and Eclipse courts both a jury and public vote with a sophisticated, dramatic and catchy pseudo-dance ballad. It’s both mainstream and Eurovision-sphere in its presence and structure yet remains true to Delta’s identity, showcasing her knockout vocals. It could use a little edge, and I think Delta is smart enough to know this and there’s an opportunity to bring this with her staging. I am thrilled we have Delta who is so interwoven with the soundtrack of my adolescence. I still know all the words to Lost Without You, and I can’t wait to belt Eclipse out along with her when she takes Vienna by storm. " ~Troy
"Delta and the Australian team have delivered a top-tier quality entry here. This is "Eurovision" without being cliché all while sounding Delta authentically. It's built for live performance with the song building to a dramatic crescendo. It gives us moments, including a very on-brand piano instrumental, and also fantastic stickability with that line: One touch, one kiss. All my life for a night like this. This has jury points written all over, and this is what Europe expects us to send so it has potential for healthy public vote. It has a lot of potential if we nail it Vienna." ~Dale
"I have mixed feelings about Delta's entry. It is authentically her, and one of her better tracks. As a fan of hers as a kid it makes me quite nostalgic for her late 2000s to mid 2010s music. But therein lies the problem that the track, like her music overall, is quite dated. I'm not sure who outside the UK would tele-vote for this, given female and Australian acts already perform poorly in this regard. I'm worried Delta will suffer the same fate as Jess Mauboy, a highly-billed female star that initially rose through the odds, only to finish firmly on the right-hand side of the scoreboard. With her excellent vocals and amazing staging I could see the juries getting behind this, so Delta and SBS really need to lean into this. I hope they can Eclipse my prediction and deliver Australia an excellent result." ~Sam
""After a few years of languishing in the semi-finals, "Eclipse" is a massive statement of intent from SBS and is a cracking song to boot. The production builds and builds, and I have absolute confidence that Delta will be able to nail the big vocal moments live. In a year where overall quality feels down, I think we're in with a shot at our best Eurovision result since Dami Im - and hopefully this can launch Delta into the broader European market too!" ~Craig
