VAL will represent Belarus at Eurovision with 'Da Vidna'

This morning Belarus chose their representative for this year’s contest and it was VAL with the song 'Da Vidna'.

VAL won the title ahead of Yan Yarosh with 'Fire' and CHAKRAS with 'La-ley-la'.

Yan Yarosh won the jury vote while CHAKRAS won the televote which saw VAL 'do a Jamala' and finish 2nd with both the jury and public to take out the title.

One of the favourites going into the final, KeySi with 'Chili Pepper' finished in 4th place.

It will be the first time since 2017 that Belarus are sending a song to the contest in Belarussian, and was one of only two songs in the final in Belarussian.

Fans of Junior Eurovision would recognize the hosts as Heleni Meraii, Belarus’ Junior Eurovision representative in 2017 and one of the hosts of Junior Eurovision in 2018, and Eugene Perlin, who was also a host of Junior Eurovision in 2018.

Belarus have qualified two of the last three years and will be hoping VAL can get them to the Saturday night again in Rotterdam.
