It is almost time for the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland.
Semi-final 1 will take place on Tuesday 13 May at 21:00 CEST which is Wednesday 10 May at 5:00am AEST in Australia.
Let's take a look of the opening, interval and closing acts of semi-final 1 of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
Opening acts
The opening act for semi-final 1 featured a troupe of 45 artists who presented a fusion of traditional and modern Swiss elements highlighting the country's heritage. This performance included renditions of winning songs Arcade (Netherlands 2019) and The Code (Switzerland 2024), featuring Swiss music styles of yodelling and alphorn.
Interval acts
Expecting Celine Dion? Well she appears... kinda.. but on-screen reminiscing about her 1988 win. However, we then see 2024 contestants Marina Satti (Greece), Silvester Belt (Lithuania), Jerry Heil (Ukraine) and Iolanda (Portugal) gather on stage to sing Celine Dion's winning song Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi.
Closing act
On the 25th anniversary of the Olsen Brothers winning for Denmark, we have a very special closing act of Jørgen Olsen performing the winning song Fly on the Wings of Love. (The other half of the Olsen brothers, Niels Olsen is receiving treatment for cancer and was too ill to perform).

Loved the focus on the interval acts—often underrated but so impactful in setting the show's tone. It’s interesting how these segments can carry their own cultural significance, much like niche platforms that celebrate local entertainment, such as 3pattiblues. Looking forward to seeing how Eurovision continues to innovate in these moments.
Really enjoyed the breakdown of the interval acts—it's impressive how much thought goes into creating these unique performances. It’s that kind of creativity that also inspires indie game modders and fans alike. I’ve seen similar passion in communities like bitlifeapkmods, where users enhance gameplay with fresh ideas.
Really enjoyed this breakdown of the interval acts—Hayley’s coverage brought great energy to the lineup preview. Eurovision always blends music and performance in creative ways, which reminds me of how visual storytelling matters in other areas too, like game design. I’ve explored that a bit over at carxstreetsmodapk.
