The Netherlands: Joost releases his Eurovision 2024 song 'Europapa'

Dutch rap artist Joost has today released the song that will represent The Netherlands at Eurovision 2024 in Malmö, 'Europapa'.

The song debuted on the Dutch television program, 'De Avondshow' in the early hours of the morning here in Australia after months of anticipation for the entry.

'Europapa' is a upbeat nastolgia-techno number penned by Joost Klein himself along with songwriter and fellow dutch rap artist Donnie.

Whilst appearing as just a chaotic dance track, the melancholic lyrics in 'Europapa' pays tribute to Joost's late father and tells the narrative of an orphan travelling through Europe to find himself.

Joost was one of the first artists to be announced for Eurovision 2024, with the Dutch organisers announcing his selection way back in December 2023.

The 26-year-old Leeuwarden-born artist has released eight studio albums, two of which reached the top ten in the Dutch album charts and is best known for his singles, 'Scandinavian Boy', 'Wachtmuziek' and 'Friesenjung'.

The Dutch internal selection process whittled down over 600 submissions to end up selecting Joost Klein due to his signature mix of party and nostalgia in his discography as well as the international potential his entry could have.

The Netherlands will compete in the second semifinal of Eurovision 2024, due to be broadcast on 9 May 2024 (10 May 2024 in Australia).
