Spanish broadcaster RTVE today announced the 14 artists competing in their Eurovision national selection process, Benidorm Fest 2022.
The artists competing and the titles of their songs are:
Azúcar Moreno - 'Postureo'
Blanca Paloma - 'Secreto del agua'
Chanel - 'Slo mo'
Gonzalo Hermida - 'Quién lo diría'
Javiera Mena - 'Culpa'
Luna Ki - 'Quiero Morir'
Marta Sango - 'Sigues en mi mente'
Rayden - 'Calle de la llorería'
Rigoberta Bandini - 'Ay Mama'
Sara Deop - 'Make you say'
Tanxugueiras - 'Terra'
Unique - 'Mejores'
Varry Brava - 'Raffaella'
Xeinn - 'Eco'
The songs will be available on December 23.
A familiar name among those is Azúcar Moreno, a duo made up of the two sisters Toñi and Encarna Salazar, who competed at Eurovision in 1990 with 'Bandido' (and who infamously had the music playback issue and had to restart).
The Benidorm Fest will feature 14 artists in total. They will compete in two live semi-finals with four qualifiers from each going through to the final.
The shows will take place towards the end of January with the dates yet to be determined.

Azúcar Moreno have an important musical legacy in our country. The sisters Encarnación and Toñi Salazar form this iconic duo that have made songs such as 'Devórame otra vez', 'You only live once', 'Today I have desire for you' and 'Bandido', a song with which they reached fifth place with at Eurovision Song Contest held in Zagreb in 1990.
Blanca Paloma is a real discovery. A stage designer and costume designer, always behind the scenes, she discovered that her thing was to be on stage. 'Secret of the water' is the first song that she published in a recording studio and it is the subject of the docuseries Lucía la Telaraña , of RTVE Play.
Chanel is an actress, dancer, singer born in Cuba in 1991 and raised in Spain since she was 4-years-old. She has been part of many great musicals and has participated in many series as well. Her song has been composed by writers who have worked with Madonna, Britney Spears, Ricky Martin and Mariah Carey.
Gonzalo Hermida is a young singer-songwriter who has published great songs as a composer and / or producer for artists such as Sergio Dalma, Pastora Soler, Malú, India Martínez, Antonio José and Julia Medina, among others. In this last year, he has hung the sold out poster in several theaters in Spain interpreting the songs collected on his album Inífugo and his first EP Natural .
Javiera Mena, icon of electro pop, Chilean singer and songwriter living in Spain, nominated for a Latin Grammy. He has six albums on the market and has collaborated with Julieta Venegas, Miss Cafeina, La casa Azul or el Guincho.
Luna Ki is a one-of-a-kind artistic force. Rigoberta Bandini is one of the most versatile artists on the Spanish music scene. She is a voice actress, songwriter and singer. In 2020 the single “In Spain we called Soledad” went viral on Spotify, granting her more than 200 thousand listeners per month. This year she has been included in the list of the 100 most creative Spaniards by Forbes magazine in the art category.
Sara Deop is an emerging artist who participated in La Voz Kids at the age of 13, was a finalist and has two songs on the market. Behind his song are authors who have composed for world-renowned artists such as Dua Lipa, The Saturdays and Little Mix.
Sabela, Olaia and Aida form the Tanxugueiras group, which represents strong, brave and empowered women through their Galician folk music. Cantareiras of a new decade, are exponents of a generation open to the evolution of traditional songs and sounds of their region. They have released four singles in 2021 and have passed through more than 100 stages of the world accompanied by their tambourines.
Unique is a boyband made up of Mat, Armand, Gio and Valen. They have burst onto the Spanish scene with force using Latin and urban rhythms. Their producers have worked with David Bisbal, Juan Magán and Chenoa among others. Their music is influenced by Michael Jackson and Juan Luis Guerra.
Varry Brava has been in the music world for 13 years, they have six albums on the market and have performed on stages all over Spain with their casual electronic pop style, with a spirit of madness and optimism. His musical influences are identified with the Spanish pop of the 80s.
Xeinn is a 23-year-old singer from Madrid, graduated in Political Science and began to show singing skills very early on. He started by uploading covers to his YouTube channel and currently has 222,000 followers and more than 18 million views. This year he independently released his first studio album with 11 songs and his influences are Justin Bieber, Post Malone and The weekend.
