Notable Performances

*** Note RAI has not uploaded tonight's performances to YouTube so their earlier performances are linked instead. Performances can be found here on RAI instead.

Mahmood & Blanco - 'Brividi'

It's no surprise they're odds on favourites to win the contest. Their performance was nothing short of spectacular and unique. It's not often that we get a male duo singing such a contemporary song at Sanremo. The chemistry between Mahmood & Blanco's performance and vocals is stunning. Bravissimi! It's worth noting their performance has 3.5 million views on YouTube, 3 times the next best and has made the Top 5 of Spotify Global charts.

Elisa - 'O forse sei tu'

Currently sitting second in the odds and looking extremely popular for a Top 3 finish - Elisa looked and sang like an angel tonight. There is room for Elisa to show off those stellar vocals in this captivating song AND I get the impression she has more to give for future performances. This entry is particularly beautiful with the orchestra. Another stand out performance this morning.

La Rappresentante di Lista - 'Ciao ciao'

A very different entry to last years 'Amare' and it feels right on track to beat last years 11th place. Combining the best of a few aspects of Italian pop - the chorus is extremely catchy and Veronica Lucchesi does a wonderful job on vocals. Certainly one of the best upbeat entries of the night. The local charts are loving this - currently sitting at 3rd on the Italian Spotify Top 50.

Sangiovanni - 'Farfalle'

A contemporary quintessentially Italian-pop entry that will get plenty of radio time locally. A very catchy and easy song to get into from the Sanremo debut artist. An eye-catching performance and Sangiovanni has steeze to burn on stage.

Dargen D'Amico - 'Dove si balla'

Certainly a bit of a surprise package at Sanremo this year - this is Dargen's first year competing at Sanremo and hasn't disappointed with this fun and upbeat number. For tonight's performance he prowled around the crowd and got excellent audience participation. Good fun. Could snag a Top 3 finish on a good day.

Irama - 'Ovunque sarai'

Irama really stood up to the plate tonight and delivered an improved performance from his first. A very different entry from his previous Sanremo attempts. 'Ovunque sarai' gives Irama plenty of time and room to show off his vocals in a completely different capacity. A lovely tune and performance. Additionally, it was very nice to see him in person after he was relegated last year due to COVID-19 concerns. Bravo!

Iconic Moments

  • Cesare Cremonini getting arguably the most stage time of any performer at Sanremo 2022 and absolutely performing the house down. Truly a highlight.

  • Drusilla Foer being an iconic co-host

  • Naomi Rivieccio serving us some iconic backing singer moments

  • Francesca Michielin conducting again for Emma - receiving flowers from Amadeus. At Aussievision we are particularly excited for tomorrows cover performance of '...Baby One More Time' (Britney Spears) to be performed by both Emma and Francesca.
