Sanremo Highlights, Results & Iconic Moments: Night 2

Another day - another evening of the Sanremo Music Festival! If you missed yesterday's shenanigans we've got you covered here. For everything (and I mean *everything*) you need to know about Sanremo to enjoy the contest - check out our preview article.

Allora, let's get to the nitty gritty. The second half of the artists performed this morning during the five hour show - here are the provisional results (combined from Night 1) for all 25 artists consisting of a print and TV media jury (33%), a radio jury (34%) and a web media jury (33%):

Results

Notable Performances

Elisa - 'O forse sei tu'

Currently sitting second in the odds and looking extremely popular for a Top 3 finish - Elisa looked and sang like an angel tonight. There is room for Elisa to show off those stellar vocals in this captivating song AND I get the impression she has more to give for future performances. This entry is particularly beautiful with the orchestra. One to watch.

Sangiovanni - 'Farfalle'

A contemporary quintessentially Italian-pop entry that will get plenty of radio time locally. A very catchy and easy song to get into from the Sanremo debut artist. An eye-catching show-opener and looking sharp in all pink. Very excited for this one on Spotify.

Emma - 'Ogni volta è così'

A great entry for Emma giving lots of moments to show off her unique moments. Her conductor was Eurovision 2016 participant Francesca Michielin. A solid entry with lots of presence and confidence. Brava Emma!

Iva Zanicchi - 'Voglio amarti'

Iva is Sanremo royalty - she won Sanremo in 1967 with 'Non pensare a me', in 1969 with 'Zingara' and AGAIN in 1974 with 'Ciao cara, come stai?'. Iva remains the only female singer to do so 3 times. In all likelihood she is not going for number four this year - but regardless, she gave a captivating and beautiful performance for the crowd.

Irama - 'Ovunque sarai'

A very different entry from his previous Sanremo attempts. 'Ovunque sarai' gives Irama plenty of time and room to show off his vocals in a completely different capacity. A lovely tune and performance. Additionally, it was very nice to see him in person after he was relegated last year due to COVID-19 concerns. Bravo!

AKA 7even - 'Perfetta così'

A bit of a surprise package from a Sanremo debut artist. An extremely well produced and radio friendly entry performed well by AKA 7seven. I get the impression he has some more to give for future performances. Anthemic and a unique sound for Sanremo.
