Overnight the Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS revealed that S10 will represent the Netherlands at Eurovision 2022 in Turin.

She is set to sing her Eurovision entry in Dutch. She will be the first performer in 12 years to represent the Netherlands with a Dutch-language entry.

Stien den Hollander aka S10, is one of the leading artists in the Dutch alt-pop scene right now.

The young 21-year-old artist has millions of streams to her name, collaborations with some of Netherlands’ biggest artists, and rave reviews from music critics, S10 is making quite the name for herself.

She first signed to a record label, Noahs Ark, at 17-years-old. She went on to record her debut album 'Snowsniper' in 2019, which earned her an 'Edison' one of Netherlands’ most prestigious music award.

Her sophomore release 'Vlinders' was released in 2020 which saw her sell out live shows and gain music chart success!

Speaking to Eurovision.tv S10 shared the news about her opportunity to go to Turin:

Music is everything to me. I hope my music can bring something to other people’s lives, simply because it has done so much for me. Which is why I could almost explode with joy at the idea that I’ll be taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest this year. In front of such a massive audience, being able to do something that’s such an honour while representing the Netherlands… I think it’s absolutely wonderful.

Eric van Stade, General Manager of AVROTROS, spoke on behalf of the selection committee, adding:

S10’s song displays guts and authenticity. While normally we don’t reveal anything at this stage beyond the artist’s name, this time I dare to make an exception. S10 remains true to herself and her unique style. This means that, having selected English-language entries for the last 11 years, we’re now sending a Dutch song to the Eurovision Song Contest. We’re sticking our necks out with this choice, which the selection committee is behind unanimously. It promises to be another very special edition for the Netherlands.

The Netherlands made their debut at Eurovision back in the inaugural Contest in 1956. They have competed 61 times, made it to the Grand Final 52 of those times and won five times in their history! The Netherlands also won Eurovision in 1957, 1959, 1969, 1975, and most recently in 2019 'Arcade' by Duncan Laurence in Tel Aviv.
