The all-important pot details of next week's Eurovision semi-final draw have been revealed.

The draw will take place next Monday, 12 January at 19:00 CET in Vienna's city hall, Wiener Rathaus.

This means an early start for Australians, with that converting to 05:00 AEDT on the morning of Tuesday 13 January.

The draw will see nations pulled out randomly from pre-decided pots of six or seven nations.

These pots are based on previous voting patterns to avoid nations having too many "friends" in one semi-final (e.g., all the Balkan or all the Nordic countries can't all be placed together).

The 2026 Eurovision semi-final pot allocations are:

Pot 1: Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Switzerland

Pot 2: Australia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden

Pot 3: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Israel, Poland, Ukraine

Pot 4: Belgium, Czechia, Luxembourg, Moldova, Portugal, Romania

Pot 5: Cyprus, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, San Marino

The big four nations (UK, France, Germany and Italy) plus hosts Austria will also be placed into semi-finals to perform (but not compete) and also vote.

Australia has been placed with our Nordic friends, with Estonia taking the place of Iceland who is boycotting the Contest.

Fascinated to see the pot allocations for Eurovision 2026’s semi-finals and that Iceland’s boycott shifts Estonia into Pot 2 with Australia—fun to track how these voting pattern-based groups shake up the contest, and I even checked the draw details on my device with a constructionloancalculator for smooth tech performance!
