The Russian Junior Eurovision National Final aired overnight, and it was announced that Sofia Feskova was the winner.
The 11-year-old from St Petersburg won her palce at Junior Eurovision with the song ‘Moy novyy den’ which means My new day in Russian.
She told the official Junior Eurovision website that "The meaning of the song is that one should never give up, keep going and fill every day with generosity and happiness".
Sofia was one of eleven acts that competed in the National Final. The winner was decided by 50% online voting and 50% jury voting. The jury consisted of the likes of the winner of the 2017 Junior Eurovision Polina Bogusevich, as well as many past Russian representatives at both Eurovision and Junior Eurovision.
Russia will definitely be looking to improve on last year’s result, only finishing 13th. Junior Eurovision 2020 will take place in Poland’s capital Warsaw on Sunday 29th November at 5pm CET (3am Monday 30th November Australian Eastern Standard Time).
