Team comments

"Cyprus has been a 'yo-yo' country in Eurovision, and I think Andrew Lambrou and Silia Kapsis made some ground for the country with their performances. Unfortunately, Theo Evan came agonizingly close to qualification, and I believe that if the formula of sending Australian-Greek artists to Eurovision continues for the country, it may end up being in the mid-table by the end of the 2020s. They came close in 2018, I think this decade may end up being the time for their first win." ~ John Christian

"They have had an amazing half decade so far. I don’t think their results reflect the quality they bring to ESC.

Also, two Aussies in their line up helps butter me up!

Shh by Theo Evans, in another year, could have won the contest. I think if Cyprus goes a little less cerebral but keep the path they have been walking they will inevitably snaffle an ESC win." ~ Troy

"As a small nation, I think Cyprus really does punch above its weight with quality and results. Apart from the two non-qualifications here, this is a solid effort. 2021 gave us some of the best staging we have seen (well one of my favourites) and 2023 and 2024 using some Aussie talent. I really would love to be going to Nicosia one day for the competition. I really think Cyprus can win Eurovision! Quality!" ~ Hayley

"Cyprus have some pretty solid results for such a small country. Three middle-of-the-pack grand final finishes is impressive and consistent. Momentum is definitely building, and I hope to see Cyprus break into the Top 5 or 10 in 2026." ~ Joel

"Considering the size of Cyprus, this small island nation is definitely pulling its weight at Eurovision. Overall great results making the Grand final three times and within the top 20 every time. Love seeing that two out of three qualifiers are Aussie background!!" ~ Kyriakos

"I'm gonna go against the grain of my fellow contributors as personally I feel Cyprus' results this decade have been average. 60% qualification may seem good for a tiny island country, but given that around 2/3rds of entries should qualify for the Grand Final anyways this is pretty standard. More than 1/4 entries these days should end up in the top 10, so the fact that Cyprus has never cracked that this decade may suggest it is actually underperforming. Given the results so far this decade Cyprus may be well advised to send Aussies to represent them as Andrew and Silia have so far given them their best results. Leea Nanos may be a good option! What I do agree with my fellow contributors is I do think an unexpected Cyprus win may be possible this decade - I have a feeling in my Mediterranean waters." ~ Sam
