Report Card: Albania at Eurovision in the 2020s

With five Eurovision Song Contests completed this decade, how is each nation faring?


In an ongoing series, the Aussievision team will rate the performance of each Eurovision nation in alphabetical order.


We’ll look back at their results from 2021 to 2025, their qualification record, give our team’s rating, and see how they stack up against other countries.


Albania's Eurovision results of the 2020s


  • 2021: Anxhela Peristeri - Karma : 21st in the Grand Final

  • 2022: Ronela Hajati - Sekret : 12th in Semi-Final 1 (did not qualify)

  • 2023: Albina & Familja Kelmendi - Duje : 22nd in the Grand Final

  • 2024: Besa - Titan: 15th in Semi-Final 2 (did not qualify)

  • 2025: Shkodra Elektronike - Zjerm : 8th in the Grand Final


  • Top 10s: 20%

  • Qualifications: 60%

We asked the Aussievision team to rate Albania’s Eurovision 2020s entries on a scale of 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest).


This gave us an average overall score from the 12 contributors who voted. We then converted that into a percentage.


Albania's score was: 67.5%


Five contributors scored 6/10, five more gave 7/10 and two members awarded an 8/10.



Team comments


A top 10 result is incredible and three Grand Finals is pretty good for Albania. They've had chances to send something more palatable for pan-European audiences but failed to do so - I think they'll be limited in results a super high result until they do. (And Sekret was good they just missed on the staging). ~ Dale


Three Grand Final qualifications is a great result for Albania, technically on track to do better than the 2010s with five qualifications then. Love that they smashed into the top 10 this year! First time in 13 years! This result for their entry Zjerm shows that there is an appetite in the contest for quirky electro-folk with an Albanian twist. More please! ~ Kyriakos


I rate Albania's performance at Eurovision this decade as slightly above average. One top ten placing is good, but given that more than 1/4 countries end up in the top 10 these days, almost by luck I would expect this to happen to Albania every couple of years anyways. 3/5 qualification record is solid but not exceptional. I will give them an extra point for being a very small country with around 2 million people. But I do think Festivali i Këngës needs to desperately modernise in terms of music and format to allow Albania to be more competitive at Eurovision. ~ Sam
