Poland choose their Junior Eurovision 2020 representative

Reigning champions Poland have selected their Junior Eurovision representative for 2020.

Alicja Tracz won the country’s national final ‘Szansa Na Sukces Eurowizja Junior 2020’ and will represent Poland on home soil with the song ‘I’ll be Standing’.

Alicja is 10-years-old and is from a small town in southern Poland. She participated in the most recent season of ‘The Voice Kids’ in Poland, making it all the way to the final.

‘Szansa Na Sukces Eurowizja Junior 2020’ took place over four consecutive weeks, with three semis and a Grand Final. Each semi was a different topic of songs, and each had seven singers competing for one place in the final.

The first semi final was all about inter-generational hits, the second semi was all about international hits, and the third semi was all about songs from animated films. In the final the contestants sang their potential Junior Eurovision song, as well as a song selected by the producers.

In the semi finals the jury were the ones that decided the winner, whereas in the final it was a 50/50 split in the voting between the public and the jury.

Poland will be looking to win an unprecedented third Junior Eurovision title on the trot this year, after Roksana Węgiel’s win in 2018 and Viki Gabor’s win last year. Junior Eurovision 2020 will take place in Poland’s capital Warsaw on Sunday 29th November at 5pm CET (3am Monday 30th November Australian Eastern Standard Time).
