Emerging fan-favourite Kyle Allesandro of Norway has undergone an emergency wisdom tooth extraction following his rehearsal in Basel, Switzerland.
Leader of the Norwegian delegation, Mads Tørklep, said Alessandro was struggling in pain for his rehearsal.
“He was barely able to open his mouth early today and took strong painkillers to be able to complete the tests.”
According to NRK, Alessandro began experiencing pain on Monday, which intensified ahead of his first rehearsal.
“I didn’t think much of it and thought that it would probably go away after a few days, but since then the pain has only gotten worse and worse, until today," he said.
"We started the day with the first rehearsal in the arena, and it went extremely well."
"After the rehearsals I started to have quite a lot of pain again, so we had an emergency appointment at the dentist where the tooth was pulled.”
Alessandro has been ordered to rest until Wednesday, with all engagements dropped to enable a smooth recovery. According to Tørklep, an intense program had been planned with a full day rehearsal and two 3-hour international press conferences on Monday and Tuesday cancelled.
“We have to look at what we do. You often get into bad shape when you have a wisdom tooth pulled, so it becomes difficult for us to carry out the planned activities,” he said.
"We just have to see it through now that he is fit again and ready to sing."
The Norwegian team will continue rehearsals in Alessandro's absence.
Everyone at Aussievision wishes Kyle a speedy recovery.
