Nations have begun confirming their participation for 2023 and some have already locked in dates for their National Finals.
So let's take a look at what we know about national final for 2023:
So far we have five national finals with dates including the long-running Sanremo in Italy and Melodifestivalen in Sweden.
Sanremo has been running since 1951 and is used to choose the Italian representative for Eurovision (most of the time!). The national final is a week long festival that includes the first four nights from 7 to 10 February, with the final held on Saturday 11 February.
February 4 - March 11
Sweden will return its popular Melodifestivalen as well, with the four heats held each week on 4, 11, 18 and 25 February and the semi-final (the second chance round) to be held on 4 March. The final of Melodifestivalen will be held on 11 March where the Swedish representative for Eurovision 2023 will be named.
San Marino are returning with their new National Final - Una Voce per San Marino. We know the final date is Friday 17 February, but we do not yet know details about auditions, heats and/or semi-finals.
January 31 - February 2
After it proved such a success for the 2022 season, Spain are returning with their new selection process, Benidorm Fest. The semi-finals will be held on 31 January and 2 February respectively. The final will be held on Saturday 4 February.
Vidbir will return this year to choose the Ukrainian entry for the Eurovision 2023 contest. Although we don't have the exact confirmed dates yet, it has been revealed it will be held in December in Kyiv.
