Måneskin win their first MTV award at the 2021 MTV EMAs



Broadcast into more than 180 countries around the world, the MTV EMAs were broadcast from the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna in Hungary overnight, and Eurovision’s 2021 winners Måneskin have taken home their first MTV award.



Måneskin were nominated for three awards on the night and managed to take home the "Best Rock" MTV EMA:

  • “Best Group” category (up against American groups Imagine Dragons, Jonas Brothers, and Silk Sonic, British girl group Little Mix, and South Korean boy group BTS). Winner BTS

  • “Best Rock” category (up against Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, Kings of Leon, and The Killers, all from the US). Winner Måneskin

  • “Best Italian Act” (up against Aka 7even, Caparezza, Madame, Rkomi). Winner Aka 7even


Måneskin were not only nominated for three awards on the night, but they also performed their latest single 'Mammamia' at the show as well. Other performers on the night included some of the biggest names in the world, including Maluma, Kim Petras, Saweetie, Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons, YUNGBLUD, One Republic, Griff, and Girl in Red.



The Italian band were not the only Eurovision artist who won awards at the MTV EMAs.


Third-placed Eurovision 2021 Swiss artist Gjon’s Tears beat out competition from Arma Jackson, Monet192, Stefanie Heinzmann, and Loredana to win the title of "Best Swiss Act".


When it comes to Aussie artists in the "Best Australian Act" category there were five nominees Tones and I, The Kid Laroi, Amy Shark, Ruel and Masked Wolf. Ruel managed to take home the MTV EMA!
