NeonoeN has sensationally withdrawn from representing Montenegro at Eurovision 2025.

The band released a statement announcing their voluntary withdrawal from the contest.

NeoneoN won Montesong 2024 on November 27 and with it the right to represent Montenegro at Eurovision 2025.

As we reported, after the national selection, the band faced possible disqualification from Eurovision after their entry Clickbait was revealed to have been performed and video recorded at the Zabjelo Culture Festival in 2023. Entries for Eurovision 2025 cannot be released or performed before September 1, 2024.

In their statement NeoneoN argued that their song Clickbait did not contravene the processes of the Montesong festival. They noted that the EBU had previously let other entries that had been released or performed before the deadline participate in Eurovision, and that one such entry had even won the entire contest.

However, the band articulated that did not want news of their potential disqualification to overshadow their music, which is why they have withdrawn.

NeoneoN thanked Montenegro's Eurovision broadcaster RTCG and their supporters, and urged everyone to support Montenegro at Eurovision.

It has not been announced yet who will replace NeoneoN as Montenegro's representative at Eurovision 2025.

NeoneoN's full statement is available on the RTCG website.
