This morning, Latvia held the grand final of their annual national selection show for the Eurovision Song Contest, Supernova 2024.
Ten acts took to the stage to perform, and after a hotly contested field, one emerged victorious.
The winner of Supernova 2024 is Dons with his ballad 'Hollow', who will now go on to represent the Baltic country in Malmö.
The results of Supernova 2024 were determined in a 50/50 split between professional juries and televote.
The full ranking based on jury and televote scores was as follows:
Dons - 'Hollow'
Vēstulēs - 'Kur?'
Katrīna Gupalo - 'The Cat's Song'
Alekss Silvers - 'For the Show'
Saint Levica - 'Tick-Tock'
Edvards Strazdiņš - 'Rock n Roll Supernova'
Ecto - 'Outsider'
Avéi - 'Mine'
Funkinbiz - 'Na chystu vodu'
Papīra Lidmašīnas - 'Mind Breaker'
Dons is the stage name of Artūrs Šingirejs, one of Latvia's most established and best-known performers.
He has previously attempted to represent Latvia on two occasions, in 2010 and 2014. On both occasions, he came in a very narrow second place. It seems that third time's the charm!
Latvia will perform in the second semifinal at Eurovision 2024 in Malmö.
