Over the weekend, Dutch Eurovision 2024 artist Joost is set to make history as one of the few Eurovision acts to perform at Coachella.

His appearance at the sold-out festival forms part of a massive world tour spanning South America, North America, Europe and Oceania.

Coachella, officially known as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, is one of the world’s largest and most influential music events. Held over two weekends each April in Indio, California, it showcases a wide mix of genres—from rock and pop to hip-hop and EDM—alongside large-scale art installations and a strong celebrity and influencer presence.

Joost will be performing on 10 and 17 April, appearing on the same night as headliner Sabrina Carpenter.

Australian electronic artist Ninajirachi will also feature in the line-up, while Justin Bieber and Karol G will be the big headliners across the other nights.

Eurovision acts at Coachella

Joost isn’t the first Eurovision artist to take to the Coachella stage, with a small number of alumni appearing at the festival over the years.

Taking to the Gobi stage on the same day Jay-Z headlined, she showcased her unique blend of folk-pop and operatic vocals.

Her performance featured her signature high “flutter,” energising the crowd while promoting her 2008 album Curiouser.

Kate has notably been recognised as the only artist to have performed at Coachella, the New York Metropolitan Opera, and Eurovision.

Måneskin’s post-Eurovision breakthrough

Following their Eurovision victory for Italy in 2021, Måneskin made their Coachella debut in April 2022.

Performing across both weekends on the Mojave stage, the Italian rock band delivered a high-energy set featuring hits like ZITTI E BUONI and MAMMAMIA.

Their performance also included popular covers such as Beggin’ and Britney Spears’ Womanizer, along with a new track dedicated to Ukraine, We’re Gonna Dance On Gasoline.

A huge year for Joost

Joost’s Coachella appearance caps off an already massive year for the Dutch artist.

He released his latest album Kleinkunst on New Year’s Day, a project widely seen as a nod to the Dutch “oudejaarsconference”—a traditional end-of-year cabaret reflecting on major events.

His global tour includes more than 30 dates across multiple continents, with an Australian leg scheduled for December.

In promotional material, Joost shared that he has “never been to Australia before,” adding extra excitement for local fans.

  • Forum Melbourne, Melbourne, December 2nd

  • The Tivoli, Brisbane, December 4th

  • Enmore Theatre, Sydney, December 5th

  • Astor Theatre, Perth, December 8th

Joost’s Eurovision journey

Joost represented the Netherlands at Eurovision 2024 in Malmö, Sweden.

He successfully qualified from the second semi-final but was ultimately disqualified on the day of the Grand Final.

Despite this setback, his entry Europapa became a major commercial success across Europe, further cementing his growing international profile.

With a global tour underway and strong fan momentum behind him, Joost’s trajectory suggests this Coachella moment is just the beginning.
