Jael Wena and Ally Eley select Eurovision stars as their coaches on 'The Voice Australia'

In this year's eleventh season of 'The Voice Australia', former Junior Eurovision 2018 representative Jael Wena and 'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2022 songwriter, Ally Eley, wowed the judges and paired up with some infamous Eurovision stars as their coaches!

Singing the Whitney Houston x Clean Bandit version of 'How Will I Know', Jael, 16, had all four coaches pressing their buzzers in the fight to have her join their team.

Jael was recognised immediately from her time on 'The Voice Generations' earlier in the year where the Wena family made it all the way to the Grand Finale with coach Guy Sebastian. Coach Rita Ora admitted she'd noticed something special about Jael back then and wondered how she would do singing on her own.

Coach Keith Urban added that Jael was naturally effervescent, alive and full of positivity, with coach Jess Mauboy believing it would be a blessing to have Jael on her team. Rita encouraged Jael to move on from coach Guy Sebastian, whilst Guy tried to entice Jael by telling her she could become the first person to be on Team Guy twice!

But it was all in vain with Jael choosing Team Jess - the coach she most connected with who she believed could help her the most. Jess was ecstatic, acknowledging she could have a potential winner on her hands!

Jael admitted the experience of auditioning on her own was totally different to her time on 'The Voice Generations' but she was proud of her accomplishments:

"It was pretty nerve racking because I was so used to being on the stage with my family!"

Jael is now through to the brand new Callback round where each coach is required to cut their team from 12 members down to six. Some will go straight home whilst others will get the opportunity to sing again to keep their place on the team.

At just 12 years old, Jael finished third for Australia at Junior Eurovision 2018 with her song 'Champion', the equal highest finish for Australia after Isabella Clarke's 3rd place in 2017.

Also appearing on this year's season of 'The Voice Australia' is 19 year old Ally Eley from Melbourne. Ally was one of the co-writers of Erica Padilla's 'To The Bottom', which finished 10th at our national final 'Eurovision - Australia Decides' this year. The song was written by Erica in conjunction with her sister Isabela and Ally after she won the Tik Tok wildcard competition for 'Eurovision - Australia Decides' .

Singing her version of Wheatus' 2000 hit 'Teenage Dirtbag', Ally was the first performer to face the coach's chairs this season and scored a four chair turn, ultimately choosing Guy Sebastian to be her coach. Ally released her first single 'Girls in the Magazines' in February this year and we look forward to following her progress on 'The Voice' this season.
