CEO of the Eurovision Song Contest Martin Green has confirmed that Israeli broadcaster KAN has been sent a formal warning after several promotional videos appeared online in multiple languages, urging viewers to use their ten votes for Israel.
Martin Green confirmed the incident to Norwegian TV channel TV2.
"We were made aware that videos instructing people to vote ten times for Israel had been published and released by the artist representing KAN. Within 20 minutes, we had contacted the Israeli delegation and asked them to immediately stop all distribution of the videos and remove them from all platforms where they had been published." -Martin Green
The rules for the Contest state, "All Artists must be given an equal opportunity to compete. Any attempt to manipulate or sabotage the voting process, including influencing audience votes or jury decisions, is prohibited." with further emphasis on discouraging large paid campaigns this year.
Evidence of the promotional videos went viral on X with user Adam Mc Callig posting a video in Spanish.
The national heads of delegation received an email this morning shared by Aftonbladet advising that "the action was limited and not part of a third party funded campaign....it's a timely reminder that whilst appealing for people to vote for them is accepted, appeals for multiple votes are not".
