Final confirmation - 41 songs will compete at Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam



The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) confirmed overnight the countries that would be taking part in Eurovision 2020.

  20. Ireland

  21. Israel

  22. Italy

  23. Latvia

  24. Lithuania

  25. Malta

  26. Moldova

  27. North Macedonia

  28. Norway

  29. Poland

  30. Portugal

  31. Romania

  32. Russia

  33. San Marino

  34. Serbia

  35. Slovenia

  36. Spain

  37. Sweden

  38. Switzerland

  39. The Netherlands

  40. Ukraine

  41. United Kingdom

Two countries that competed last year have withdrawn, Hungary (to focus on building up artists at a national level) and Montenegro (for financial reasons).


We will however have two returning countries, Bulgaria and two-time winners Ukraine.


There will be two semi finals, one with 17 nations and another with 18.


The big five plus hosts Netherlands will go directly to the Grand FInal.

The Netherlands won the 2019 contest and will be hosting it in 2020. The host city will be Rotterdam with the venue the Ahoy Arena which hosted Junior Eurovision in 2007. 

The first semi final will be on Tuesday 12 May, the second semi final Thursday 14 May and the Grand Final on Saturday 16 May.
