Eurovision: Australia Decides acts set to rock the AFL Grand Final

Electric Fields and Sheppard, two of the acts that competed in Eurovision: Australia Decides in 2019, have been announced as part of the all-Australian entertainment line-up at this year’s Australian Football League (AFL) Grand Final.

The event, often described as Australia’s equivalent to the Super Bowl, will be held at the Gabba in Brisbane on 24 October 2020.

Electric Fields announced the news on their Instagram page on Monday morning, announcing their performance set to take place alongside fellow Indigenous indie-pop sensation Thelma Plum, Rockhampton blues duo Busby Marou and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

Sheppard will take the stage at half-time alongside Sydney band the DMA’s, popular Queensland indie group Cub Sport, and Wolfmother frontman Andrew Stockdale. Sheppard also announced the news on social media, as can be seen below:

The event will also feature The Voice contestant Tim McCallum singing the Australian national anthem, and the traditional performance of football anthem ‘Up There, Cazaly’ by beloved Australian singer Mike Brady.

The AFL Grand Final is traditionally held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on the last Saturday in September, however this year it has been moved to Brisbane due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in Victoria.

The match will begin at 6:30pm AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) on 24 October 2020, with the acts appearing both before the match and at half-time.
