South Korea is preparing to make its Eurovision Asia debut, with singer JUNHEE set to represent the country at the inaugural Contest in Bangkok, Thailand.

But who is the artist behind the name, and how did he earn the chance to represent his country?

Here’s everything we know about JUNHEE’s journey to Eurovision Asia 2026.

Who is JUNHEE?

Park Junhee, known professionally as JUNHEE, is a South Korean singer and actor who has been active in the entertainment industry since 2017.

Before making his debut, he spent seven years as a trainee with CJ E&M and Jellyfish Entertainment, coming close to debuting on three separate occasions.

He joined Beat Interactive in 2016, where he developed his performance skills through dance practices and vocal covers. That same year, he made his stage debut in the musical Peste.

JUNHEE made his K-pop debut in 2017 as a member of the boy group A.C.E, releasing the single Cactus.

Later that year, he competed in the South Korean survival program The Unit: Idol Rebooting Project, giving him another opportunity to showcase his talents as a performer. During his time with A.C.E, he also contributed to the group's songwriting, earning credits as a lyricist and composer on several tracks.

Alongside his music career, JUNHEE has established himself as an actor and musical theatre performer.

In 2021, he starred as Jung Eun-ho in the historical boys' love web drama Tinted With You.

Following his mandatory military service from February 2022 to August 2023, he returned to the stage as Galileo in the musical We Will Rock You, performing in the production until January 2024.

In 2025, JUNHEE began a new chapter in his career after A.C.E's members chose not to renew their contracts with Beat Interactive.

He subsequently established his own company, H&P Entertainment, and launched his solo career with the single Supernova in August 2025. His debut mini-album, The First Day & Night, followed in September.

JUNHEE continued building his solo discography with his second album, Love Method, released in August 2026. He has also toured internationally, performing across North America, Europe and Asia.

About the song Deep Dive

JUNHEE will represent South Korea with Deep Dive, an English-language pop-EDM track exploring the overwhelming feeling of falling in love.

Using the imagery of being pulled underwater, the song portrays an intense attraction that becomes increasingly difficult to escape.

In an interview with Hellokpop JUNHEE revealed the song's concept:

"The key image that came to my mind was, “A man dying in the desert meets a siren in an oasis.” So I decided that, both sonically and in the song structure itself, I needed to make it very conceptual."

JUNHEE has revealed that the production was revised numerous times to create a performance suited to the scale of Eurovision Asia, with a dramatic final dance break building towards the song's climax.

Deep Dive was co-written by JUNHEE, Sarah Min, Notmixedyet (GALLERY), Jaehyuk and AleXa.

AleXa will be familiar to Eurovision fans as the inaugural winner of the American Song Contest in 2022.

In 2026, she also competed in Sweden's Melodifestivalen, the competition used to select the country's Eurovision representative. Performing her entry Tongue Tied in the fifth heat in Sundsvall, she advanced to the final qualification round but ultimately missed out on a place in the final.

How was JUNHEE selected for Eurovision Asia 2026?

South Korea's participating broadcaster, ENA, held a national selection show, Korea's Next Wave, to determine its representative for the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia.

Eight artists competed in the selection, which took place on 4 September 2026.

The winner was determined by a combination of jury voting (40%), local voting (40%) and international voting (20%).

The top three acts were revealed as JUNHEE with Deep Dive, Sojeong Shim with Eheradiya and Angel Noise with (Nan Naya!).

JUNHEE emerged as the winner, securing the opportunity to represent South Korea at Eurovision Asia 2026.

South Korea will compete in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia on 14 November 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.
