Eurovision Asia 2026 - Aussievision’s song rankings for Sieng Lao: The One
Thinla will represent Laos at the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia in Bangkok, with the national selection process Sieng Lao: The One to choose her song. Three entries are in the running: Bae, Star and Water.
The selection process will run over two nights, on Wednesday 23 September at 11:30 PM AEST (20:30 ICT) Thinla will perform the three potential Eurovision Asia entries with online voting open to the public for 24 hours.
The next evening on Thursday 24 September at 11:30 PM AEST (20:30 ICT), the winning song will be announced! The show can be viewed on the official Eurovision YouTube channel or local television broadcaster VTE9.
Six Aussievision team members have ranked the Sieng Lao: The One entries with either 12, 8 or 4 points awarded in a modified version of the traditional Eurovision points system. So, who topped our rankings?

"Out of the three songs Star offers a lot more as an overall package. It has a lot of catchy hooks reminiscent of Rihanna and even a change of tempo which is delightful. It is my favourite out of the lot." ~Kyriakos

"This a really cute catchy and modren little pop song. I like the kind of Laos x trop pop beat and really feels quite contemporary. I'm interested to see how this comes across live but from studio tracks this certainly stood out." ~Dale

"Bae is a breezy reggaeton-style song that is great for the summer and wouldn’t be out of place in a playlist as you’re getting ready to go out. It’s well song and the production is top-notch. While I don’t feel anything distinctively Laotian in the song (apart from repeated lyric in the pre-chorus), it definitely is a girl-bop that is palatable for international listeners to take notice." ~Paul

"Water is the standout track for me, although given it’s also the most understated of the three I’d be surprised if others agree. It’s definitely got more of a Sunday-morning than a Saturday-night vibe to it, but that’s what I enjoy most about it." ~Joel

Who is Thinla?
Formerly known as Thinlamphone, Thinla is a Lao singer whose music combines traditional Morlum with pop, R&B and dance influences.
She has previously toured the United States and represented Laos at the Round Festival in Busan, South Korea. Thinla has also performed at major regional events including the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits.
Her selection gives Laos an established performer for its first appearance on the Eurovision Asia stage, while Sieng Lao: The One will determine exactly what she performs.
Thinla will become the country's first Eurovision Song Contest Asia representative and will travel to Bangkok for the inaugural contest.
Eurovision Song Contest Asia is the first major multi-country expansion of the Eurovision format into Asia.
