We profile the 2026 entry from the United Kingdom including details on the artist, song, how it was chosen, odds, fan reaction and how the nation has fared at Eurovision.
Five time Eurovision winners the United Kingdom has had a few lean years since their last victory in 1997, the closest that they have finished recently was second place in 2022 with the charismatic Sam Ryder and his song Spaceman.
Debuting in 1957, the United Kingdom have the unenviable title of finishing in second place more than any other country- a grand total of 16 times. Other than their aforementioned 1997 success with Katina and the Waves with the iconic Love Shine a Light, their victories were in 1967 with Sandie Shaw and Puppet on a String, 1969 with Lulu and Boom Bang-a-Bang, 1976 with Brotherhood of Man and Save Your Kisses for Me and 1981 with Bucks Fizz and the crowd favourite Making Your Mind Up.
Save Your Kisses for Me is the biggest selling single for a winning entry in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest. It reached number 1 in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Israel, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The song also charted in the United States of America and peaked at number 5 in Australia.
The United Kingdom has hosted the contest a record nine times, the host cities are: London in 1960, 1963, 1968, and 1977, Edinburgh in 1972, Brighton in 1974, Harrogate in 1982, Birmingham in 1998, and Liverpool in 2023.
The United Kingdom is one of ‘The Big 5’ nations of the Eurovision Song Contest meaning that they are given an automatic place in the final of the contest each year, due to their participating broadcaster being one of the largest financial contributors to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Last year all-girl vocal trio Remember Monday represented the nation with their song What the Hell Just Happened? which finished in 19th place.

"I find it completely bonkers to be jumping on this wonderful and wild journey. I have always been a massive Eurovision fan, and I love the magical joy it brings to millions of people every year, so getting to join that legacy and fly the flag for the UK is an absolute honour that I am taking very seriously. I've been working a long time creating, writing and producing my own visions from scratch, and documenting my process. I will be bringing every ounce of my creativity to my performances, and I can't wait for everyone to hear and see what we've created. I hope Eurovision is ready to get synthesised."
