We profile the 2026 entry from Luxembourg including details of the artist, song, how it was chosen, odds, fan reaction and how the nation has fared at Eurovision.
Luxembourg is one of the most successful nations in Eurovision history, recording five victories from thirty-eight appearances between 1956 and 2024.
As a founding member, they dominated with wins in 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973, and 1983. Due to a small local industry, most winners were French or Greek artists representing the Duchy.
After a 31-year break Luxembourg returned to the contest in 2024 – with TALI’s Fighter finishing 13th, followed by 22nd place for last year's Laura Thorn and her jaunty tune La poupée monte le son.
This year, singer and violinist Eva Marija is set represent the Grand Duchy at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna with her song Mother Nature.

About the artist
Twenty-year-old Eva Marija Kavaš Puc was born on 24 December 2005 to Slovenian parents from Ljubljana and Beltinci. Her parents emigrated to Luxembourg in 2003 for their work, and the family remains heavily connected to both cultures.
Eurovision played a big part in her musical journey, which began at the age of three when she fell in love with the violin after watching Norway’s Alexander Rybak win the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009 with Fairytale.
She went to the European School of Luxembourg before moving on to the Luxembourg Conservatory where she studied violin, singing, piano and bass guitar. Not only is she multi-instrumental but she has also crossed genres working in jazz, classical, pop, and rock.
By fourteen she was performing across Luxembourg and in other regions of Europe in youth concerts, theatre productions, festivals, charity events, and collaborations with local artists.
From the Luxembourg Conservatory, she moved on to the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London – where she is now in her final year.
During her time in the UK she has become a familiar face on London’s live music scene, sharing her original songs with audiences on a regular basis.
She has released four singles before Mother Nature: When 2 Lovers Meet (2021), Toxic Trait (2023), Time To Go (2025) and Sweet Child (2025).
And if you were wondering just how talented this woman is?
About the song
Mother Nature is an anthemic folk track with a strong drum beat, which celebrates the beauty and power of the natural world. It’s a song that shows off the vocal and violin talents of its singer and co-writer Eva Marija, in particularly during the bridge where Eva delivers a memorable violin solo.
The song was written in 2025 by Thomas Stengaard, Julie Aagaard and Maria Broberg, together with Eva Marija during a Eurovision songwriting camp at the Rockhal.
Eagle-eyed fans may know Stengaard as the songwriter behind Eurovision 2013 winner Only Teardrops by Emmelie de Forest (as well as two other Eurovision 2026 entries - Superstar from San Marino, and Eins Zwei Drei from the United Kingdom). Mother Nature feels reminiscent of that era of Eurovision, and Eva Marija’s costume at the Luxembourg Song Contest has a similar “natural” feel to Emmelie de Forest’s costume.
It is the first ever Luxembourgish entry at Eurovision to be performed entirely in English.
How was Eva Marija chosen for Eurovision?
On 30 October 2025, RTL Lëtzebuerg announced that Eva Marija would be one of the eight participants in the Luxembourg Song Contest 2026 with the song Mother Nature, which was officially released on 12 December.
She went on to win both the jury and public vote in the final on 24 January 2026 which gave her the chance to represent Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, Austria.
Eva Marija's song has been the subject of a minor controversy since its selection to Eurovision 2026 in January. Shortly after winning the Luxembourg Song Contest on 24 January, fans and critics started to note a “striking resemblance” between Mother Nature and British singer-songwriter Birdy's 2016 song Keeping Your Head Up. t
The choruses of the two songs were so similar that the Luxembourgish broadcaster allegedly conducted an internal investigation into the song. Ultimate, the Luxembourg Times reported that the criticisms were debunked as follows:
“None of the discussions held were found to substantiate the claim of plagiarism, Jeff Spielmann, Eurovision media manager at national broadcaster RTL, told the Luxemburger Wort.”
Luxembourg will compete in the second semi-final of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest on 14 May 2026 in Vienna.
