We profile the 2026 entry from Israel including details on the artist, song, how it was chosen, odds, fan reaction and how the nation has fared at Eurovision.
Israel first competed at Eurovision in 1973 and has gone on to win four times in 1978, 1979, 1998 and 2018.
In recent times, the early 2010s included several non-qualifications, before Netta's victory with Toy in 2018.
Following Noa Kirel finishing third in 2023, Israel has finished 5th and runner-up in the past two editions with very high public votes.
Their participation has been one of controversy in recent years, with five nations boycotting the 2026 Contest because of their presence.
Israel will be represented at Eurovision 2026 by Noam Bettan with the entry Michelle.

About the artist
Noam Bettan is a 27-year-old Israeli singer-songwriter born in Ra’anana to a French-Jewish family.
Fluent in Hebrew, French and English, Bettan often blends these influences into his music, something that also carries through into his Eurovision entry.
He first gained national attention in 2018 after finishing third on a televised singing competition, before building his career with a string of successful singles and his 2023 debut album Me’al HaMayim.
He has described representing Israel at Eurovision as entering “the lion’s den.”
About the song
Michelle is an entry performed in Hebrew, French and English, continuing Israel’s recent trend of multilingual songs.
The track was written by Bettan alongside a team that includes 2025 Eurovision runner-up Yuval Raphael.
Musically, the song leans into contemporary pop compared to recent ballads by the nation.
How was Noam Bettan chosen for Eurovision?
Noam Bettan was selected as Israel’s Eurovision 2026 representative after winning the national selection show HaKokhav HaBa in January.
The song Michelle was then chosen separately through an internal selection process, with around 200 submissions received.
The entry was officially revealed in March during a broadcast on KAN.
