About the song

'Guilty Pleasure' was written by Mia during the winter while in lockdown due to the Covid pandemic. Mia also collaborated with Damir Bačić and Vjekoslav Dimter for the song.

The song came about after Mia had a dream about a certain person five nights in a row and she was in a committed relationship at the time and she felt tremendous guilt. The song about her struggles with the situation and dilemma she faced.

Mia has mentioned that the song's intention isn't about cheating in a relationship, it's more about having a fantasy about someone else while you're in a relationship.

How she was chosen for Eurovision

Mia earned the opportunity to represent Croatia at Eurovision after winning the long-running national final Dora run by the Croatian broadcaster HRT.

She competed with her entry 'Guilty Pleasure' and won both the jury and public votes. She was selected from a field of fourteen competing songs.

The 29-year-old singer has been in the music industry for almost eight years, but this marked her first participation at Dora and she beat out some tough competition from favourites of previous years including Mia Negovetić, Bernarda, and Eric Vidović.
