Estonia: Eesti Laul semi-final 2 results

This morning, Estonia held the second semi-final of their national final Eesti Laul.

10 artists competed with six getting through to February's grand final.

Four of the artists qualified with a jury and televote combination, they were:

Alika - 'Bridges'

Inger - 'Awaiting You'

Meelik - 'Tuju'

SISSI - 'Lighthouse'

While the final qualifier chosen by televote alone was:

m els - 'So Good At What You Do'

Unfortunately, these five acts missed out on a place in the final (for now):

Carlos Ukareda - 'Whiskey Won't Forget'

Elysa - 'Bad Philosophy'

Linalakk, Bonzo - 'Aeg'

Robin Juhkental - 'Kurbuse matused'

Wiiralt & Ultima Thule - 'Salalik'

You can find a recap of the live performances here:

You can watch the full live performances on the ERR website.

Some of the notable qualifiers to the final include:

SISSI - 'Lighthouse'

Sissi was the first artist revealed and this will be her third time competing at Eesti Laul. She finished fourth in 2019 with 'Strong', and came ever so close in 2021, placing 2nd to eventual winner Uku Suviste with 'Time'. Sissi is the daughter of Estonian 2001 Eurovision winner Dave Benton, and served on the Eesti Laul jury in 2022. She will be looking to go one bigger this time!

Alika - 'Bridges'

Alika is 19 years old and is a rising star in the Estonian music industry. She started singing at the age of four and has competed on several singing TV shows such as The Baltic Voice and New Wave Junior. She won the most recent edition of Estonian Idol, garnering over 70% of the vote in the Final. Alika's track 'Bridges' is written by herself and also Wouter Hardy, who was a songwriter of Eurovision 2019 winner 'Arcade' and Eurovision 2021 jury winner 'Tout l'Univers'. She even covered the former on Estonian Idol!

Wildcard spot!

Usually the results of the two semi-finals would give us the full line-up for the final. Not in 2023! There will be two extra "wildcard" qualifiers to the final to be determined by televote only, to be revealed Tuesday morning (Australian time).

So for now we have a nearly full compliment of songs for the final. The 10 confirmed songs in the running to represent Estonia at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool are...

Andreas - 'Why Do You Love Me'

Ollie - 'Venom'

Anett and Fredi - You Need to Move On'

Bedwetters - 'Monsters'

Janek - 'House of Glass'

Alika - 'Bridges'

Inger - 'Awaiting You'

Meelik - 'Tuju'

m els - 'So Good At What You Do'

SISSI - 'Lighthouse'

The Eesti Laul Grand Final will take place on the morning of Sunday 12 February (Aus time).
