Dotter and Anton Ewald go through in semi-final 2 of Sweden’s Melodifestivalen

Semi-final 2 of Sweden’s Eurovision national selection show ‘Melodifestivalen’ took place in Stockholm this morning.

Of the seven acts competing only four could remain in the competition by the end of the show. Dotter and Anton Ewald moved directly through to the Grand Final after finishing in the top two positions. Frida Green and Eva Rydberg & Ewa Roos will compete again in the second chance 'Andra Chansen' round on 6 March.

Finishing in fifth place was singer, songwriter and record producer Patrik Jean, one of the writers behind last year’s winning entry by The Mamas.

Also leaving the competition are 25-year-old singer songwriter Julia Alfrida who was given a wildcard to compete after participating in the 2020 P4 Nästa competition and WAHL feat. SAMI, a newly formed duo made up of Christopher Vahlberg (Wahl) and Sami Rekik (SAMI). The two were previously part of other Swedish rap groups SödraSidan and Medina.

Official voting results will be released later in the week.
