Delta Goodrem's Eurovision semi-final performance is winning plaudits around the world, but one Aussie fan took it one step further.

Perth-based Eurofan Tim Juszczuk-Soltys booked a one-way ticket despite not having any accommodation or a Eurovision ticket.

"What inspired me? Honestly, it was Delta," he said.

"I watched Semi Final 2 in Perth at 3:00am this morning and got unexpectedly emotional. It takes a lot for me to cry, and let’s just say that there was water running down my face.

"Eurovision has been part of my life since I was about 10 years old, watching it with my family in Melbourne, and something about that moment, the key change, and the ensuing moment just triggered the “you only live once” part of my brain."

Just hours after seeing the semi-final concluded, Tim let his curiosity take over.

"At around 3:30pm this afternoon I randomly checked my frequent flyer points and somehow found flights to Vienna leaving tonight," he explains.

"By 3:38pm the flight was booked. By 8:00pm I was at Perth Airport with my bag packed, no accommodation, no Grand Final ticket, and no return flight home. Completely rational behaviour!"

Tim also explains that there was some more going on drawing him to Vienna.

"Delta and I also share the same birthday, 9 November, so naturally I’m taking that as a sign from the Eurovision universe. We’re basically twins."

Longtime Eurovision fan

This won't be Tim's first Eurovision though.

I’ve been lucky enough to experience Eurovision in Stockholm, Kyiv, Lisbon and Malmö before," he explained

"Some of my favourite memories actually happened outside the arena at EuroVillage and EuroClub. Eurovision week has this incredible energy where thousands of strangers suddenly feel like best friends."

Tim has been a long-term fan, with his background being an influence.

"I’m originally from Melbourne but now live in Perth, and I’ve been obsessed with Eurovision since I was a kid watching it with my family," he said

"I come from a Ukrainian background, so I always feel slightly torn between Australia and Ukraine during Eurovision season."

And despite the excitement, he does have one small regret.

"I'm leaving behind my 10-year-old niece Charlotte and this is the first year she’s become completely obsessed with Eurovision too, so I’d promised her we would wake up together at 3:00am on Sunday morning to watch the Grand Final.

"Instead, I had to FaceTime her from Perth Airport to tell her I was suddenly flying to Vienna. I think I slightly broke her heart.

"Her exact words were: 'Uncle Timmy…can you PLEASE take me with you next year?'

"So now I’m on a mission to somehow get her a personal message from Delta to make up for it! "
