For more than two decades, Delta Goodrem has wowed us here in Australia and around the world with her musical talents, building a diverse and critically acclaimed catalogue of hits.

But outside of her own material, the depths of her musicianship has also shone across her amazing cover performances. In fact, her first ever single I Don't Care was a cover! (more on that later).

Whether its been during her live shows or working on other projects., she's been able to take rock anthems, film and theatre moments and Australian classics and truly make them her own.

On the back of her recent ace cover of 2023 Eurovision winner Loreen's Tattoo for the Eurovision Song Contest... A Little Bit More series - here's six of Delta's best covers which she's absolutely nailed over the years.

I Believe In A Thing Called Love - The Darkness (2016)

As an extra track on her 2016 album Wings Of The Wild, Delta totally reworked UK glam rockers The Darkness' breakout hit from 2003 - I Believe In A Thing Called Love. She also slotted it into her setlist for her Australian arena tour for the album later that year.

Sometimes, a golden rule when covering mega rock hits is to not completely flip them on their head and take away all their original amplified awesomeness. But with punchy distorted guitars and wild solos replaced by Delta behind the piano and some majestic orchestral arrangements, she delivered a unique, intimate reinterpretation of the track, and even came close to matching Justin Hawkins' ridiculous high notes.

As a rock critic and huge fan of the band (I rate Permission To Land as one of the best debut albums ever), let me tell you, she did this justice. And if you ever need an example of why a cover is in safe hands with Delta - this is it.

Down Under with Colin Hay (2020)

With COVID-19 at its peak and forcing us all to stay home, the cream of the Australian music industry united for one of the late Michael Gudinski's great last projects - the From The Home Front 'concert' televised on Anzac Day 2020.

Delta naturally came on board, and teamed up with Colin Hay for a superb duet of his band Men At Work's iconic anthem Down Under. Stripping things back to just piano and acoustic guitar, both of them were able to let their vocals shine whilst keeping all the gusto and national pride the track became famous for.

Delta also returned for the second edition of From The Home Front the following year - covering John Farnham's You're The Voice with a majestic full band arrangement and bagpipe players.

The Day You Went Away - Wendy Matthews (2011)

Brought in to do the 'In Memoriam' segment for a collection of dearly-departed music legends at the 2011 ARIA Awards, Delta made the segment all the more powerful and moving with her rendition of Wendy Matthews' classic ballad.

It was note-perfect and again showed how she can strip things back, not deviate too far from the original song, and stop you in your tracks with her passionate vocals at just the right moments.

Hopelessly Devoted To You - Olivia Newton-John (2018)

In a particularly special project, Delta was cast to play her idol (and later collaborator and friend) Olivia Newton-John in Channel 7's miniseries Olivia Newton-John: Hoplessless Devoted To You in 2018.

Along with the movie, she naturally recorded covers of some of Livvy's biggest hits for the soundtrack, including the title track, which was one of Newton-John's key solo moments in Grease.

Whilst mostly sticking to the original arrangement, she gave it a contemporary feel with an acoustic guitar for the first verse and was able to match all the high notes later on effortlessly. It was another example of how well Delta knows her craft and characters, and why there would have been no one else more fitting to play the role.

Memory - Cats the Musical (2015/2016)

Although she had proven herself as a singer and actress, there was one frontier Delta hadn't conquered in the mid-2010s: theatre. She added that to her resume in 2015/16 when she made her stage debut as Grizabella in the revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats, which had seasons in Sydney, Hobart, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Delta brought some serious star power to the role and drew generally positive reviews for her performances, particularly for her delivery of Grizabella's signature track Memory. She added it to her setlist for the 2016 arena tour for her album Wings Of The Wild, which became one of the highlights of the night and served as another example of her vocal range, versatility and ability to excel in another genre.

I Don't Care - Angela Via (2001)

Fun fact: Delta's first ever single before she even joined Neighbours and eventually launched her career with Born To Try was this song by little-known American singer Angela Via. Via released her track in 2000 and it reached as high as 74 on the US Billboard 100.

Fresh from signing to them in her mid-teens, Delta's old label Sony got her to cover I Don't Care a year or so later for her debut single at age 17, well before she was developing her sound and identity and learning the ropes of the music industry. In terms of a chart comparison, it probably did as well as Via's original version, locally reaching as high as No. 64 on the ARIA Charts.

And of course, as previously mentioned - there is her most recent cover of Loreen's Tattoo - which you can check out below.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of the many great covers Delta has done throughout her career. Do you have any particular favourites we've missed? Let us know in the comments below or on our socials!

The collaboration between players from both parts of Ireland created a unique team dynamic that went beyond tactics. Many of these players had never played together before, yet they shared a strong sense of purpose. This unity was evident in their determination and willingness to challenge a superior opponent. The atmosphere around the match was charged with emotion, as supporters recognized the significance of seeing a united Irish side. It wasn’t just about winning—it was about representation and pride. Stories like this continue to fuel discussions among fans, and in a modern context, they often connect such narratives with broader engagement, sometimes leading to questions like Can I earn money from 1xBet?, when analyzing rare football scenarios.
