Today, October 1, marks the Independence Day of Cyprus. The day celebrates the nation's independence from the United Kingdom in 1960.
Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 and has competed 40 times. Their best result was 2nd place in 2018.

The Cypriot rock band Minus One represented the nation in 2016 with a song co-written by Swede Thomas G:son. It qualified for the final finishing in 21st.
8.Hovig - Gravity (2017)
4,508,142 streams
In 2017 Cyprus internally chose another local performer with a Thoms G;son song. It also qualified for the final finishing 21st. Gravity just pips Alter Ego by 150,000 streams.
7.Andromache - Ela (2022)
11,456,944 streams
Cyprus missed out on the final for the first time since 2013. Despite this, the English-Greek song by Andromache proved to be popular with fans. It has an impressive 11.5 million streams.
6.Silia Kapsis - Liar (2024)
11,670,164 streams
Despite only being out for around six months, Aussie Silia Kapsis comes in at no.6 on this list. She qualified for the Grand Final finishing in an impressive 15th place.

Winning the battle of the Aussies is Andrew Lambrou in fifth place. The former Australia Decides star gave Cyprus its best placing since Fuego, coming in 12th place at Eurovision overall.
4.Tamta - Replay (2019)
18,567,264 streams
The Georgian-born Greek star Tamta represented the nation with the fan-favourite song Replay. After an impressive performance, she placed 13th in the Grand Final. She holds off Andrew Lambrou (for now) to rank fourth on this list.
3.Ivi Adamou - La La Love (2012)
34,574,954 streams
Ivi brought this absolute banger and an iconic performance to Baku. She finished in a respectable 16th but her song has lived long in the hearts of fans since. She has racked up over 30 million streams with Eurovision parties to bring a few more in years to come.
2.Elena Tsagrinou - El Diablo (2021)
48,602,380 streams
With almost 50 million streams the 2021 entry El Diablo comes second on our list. Elena opened the show with a fantastic performance finishing 16th on the night.
1.Eleni Foureira - Fuego (2018)
108,364,704 streams
Eleni Foureira's iconic performance of Fuego is not just Cyprus's highest-finishing Eurovision song, it is also its most streamed. She finishes on top comfortably with over 100 million streams.
