Count Binface has unveiled a manifesto with a distinctly Eurovision flavour as he campaigns in the Clacton by-election against Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.

The contest was triggered after Farage resigned as Clacton's MP and immediately sought re-election, saying he wanted voters to judge him amid parliamentary scrutiny over undeclared financial gifts. With most major parties refusing to contest the seat, the unusual by-election has attracted widespread attention, with Count Binface's candidacy gaining worldwide attention.

The satirical candidate has featured two Eurovision pledges among his 20 campaign promises, including one that would see him represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027.

Count Binface for Eurovision?

Point 19 of the manifesto pledges for Count Binface to represent the UK at Eurovision 2027, before bringing the Contest to Clacton in 2028.

The self-described "5,900-year-old intergalactic space warrior from the planet Sigma IX" has become a regular fixture of British elections since 2019, standing against high-profile politicians including Boris Johnson, Rishi Sunak and now Nigel Farage.

Whether the BBC or the UK's eventual Eurovision broadcaster has intergalactic ambitions remains to be seen, but it's certainly one of the manifesto's more eye-catching promises.

Wayne Rooney for Eurovision commentary

The manifesto also includes another Eurovision pledge.

Point 18 calls for former England football captain Wayne Rooney to become the BBC's new "expert summariser" for Eurovision.

The proposal follows Rooney's appearance as a BBC pundit during the FIFA World Cup. His most viral moment came after the World Cup final half-time show, when he declared: "I like a lot of them artists, but I thought it was crap."

Count Binface immediatley took to X to say: "Wayne Rooney to be new BBC commentator for Eurovision."

A manifesto unlike any other

The 20-point manifesto blends satire with local issues, featuring promises to:

  • Build "at least one affordable house"

  • Make arcade claw machines fairer

  • Fill potholes using copies of the 2024 Labour Party manifesto

  • Hold a referendum on whether Pluto should regain planet status

  • Move Parliament to his "Bin HQ" in Weeley while Westminster is restored

  • Have oil and gas companies pay for solar panels for everyone

And, of course, send Count Binface to Eurovision.

The Clacton by-election will be held on August 13 while the UK has yet to annouce their intention or artist for Eurovision 2027.
