Cosmó will represent Austria at Eurovision 2026 after winning the host country's national selection Vienna Calling - Wer singt für Österreich?
The youngest contestant in the Austrian national selection, Cosmó performed the song Tanzchein.
The show was hosted by Alice Tumler and Cesár Sampson who hosted Eurovision 2015 and represented Austria at Eurovision 2018 respectively. Incumbent Eurovision winner JJ was in attendance and performed his latest single Shapeshifter as the interval act.
12 acts competed for the title, including Julia by Julia Steen which was co-written by Australian singer-songwriter Danielle Lamb.
After each acts performed they were provided feedback by a three person panel. Initially this panel was due to be made up of Austrian actress Caroline Athanasiadis, German comedian Elton and 2019 Swiss Eurovision entrant Luca Hänni. However Elton and Luca were unable to make it to Vienna due to extreme snow conditions. They were replaced by Eric Papilaya, who represented Austria at Eurovision 2007, and JJ.
The result was decided 50% by a 44 person jury and 50% by televote. Notable members of the jury included Jamala, who won Eurovision 2016, and Michael Schulte who represented Germany at Eurovision in 2018.
First the results of the jury were announced. The jury awarded:
1 point to Philip Piller - Das Leben ist Kunst
2 points to Anna-Sophie - Superhuman
3 points to Reverend Stomp - Mescalero Ranger
4 points to Bamlak Werner - We Are Not Just One Thing
5 points to Frevd - Riddle
6 points to Julia Steen - Julia
7 points to Nikotin - Unsterblich
8 points to Kayla Krystin - I brenn
10 points to Cosmó - Tanzchein
12 points to Lena Schaur - Painted Reality
Sidrit Voskhi and David Kurt received 0 points from the jury.
The top three acts of the combined jury and televote were then announced in a random order. They were:
Cosmó - Tanzchein
Lena Schaur - Painted Reality
Bamlak Werner - We Are Not Just One Thing
Austria as the host country automatically qualifies to the Eurovision Grand Final which will be held on May 16.
