Cornelia Jakobs will represent Sweden at Eurovision 2022 with 'Hold Me Closer'


This morning saw the Grand Finale of Melodifestivalen and the Swedes have chosen Cornelia Jakobs to represent them in Turin with the song 'Hold Me Closer'.


12 acts competed, but it was Cornelia Jakobs who took the crown, winning the jury vote and coming second in the televote. Second place went to Anders Bagge who won the televote despite coming only 7th with the juries. Third place went to Medina who came third with both the juries and the televote.


'Hold Me Closer' was written by Cornelia along with Isa Molin and David Zandén and tells the story of the difficult end to a relationship.

Sweden debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958 and has won six times ( 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015). In 2021, Tusse won Melodifestivalen and represented Sweden with his entry ‘Voices‘ which finished 14th.
