Overnight, Canada's broadcaster CBC/Radio-Canada has revealed the five artists competing to represent the nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Bulgaria.

The artists were unveiled overnight in a special television broadcast, Eurovision Song Contest: Canada's Choice, which aired across Canada and was streamed internationally on YouTube.

The five finalists are Josiane, Rêve, TALK, Tyler Shaw and William Cloutier, bringing together a diverse range of musical styles from dance-pop and contemporary pop to alternative rock and French-language music.

Canada will make its Eurovision debut in Burgas, Bulgaria, next May, becoming the first new country to join the Contest since Australia in 2015.

During the show, Eurovision artists, including Australia's own Delta Goodrem, sent messages of support.

Delta said Eurovision was "the biggest stage and biggest party in the world" and told Canadians, "we are so excited to have you."

How will Canada's Eurovision artist be selected?

A total of 325 artists applied to represent Canada, with CBC/Radio-Canada initially narrowing the field to 15 before a seven-member jury of music industry professionals and broadcaster executives selected the final five.

The jury assessed applicants on their vocal abilities, stage presence, artistic experience, musical vision and potential to deliver a strong performance on the international stage.

However, the final decision on Canada's representative is now entirely in the hands of the Canadian public.

Canadians can watch performances from each finalist and vote for their favourite artist through the CBC Eurovision website, with voting open until Thursday 5 November at 11:59pm Pacific Time.

Voters can cast up to ten votes during the ten-day voting period, which closes on November 5th. The winning artist is set to be announced by December.

Unlike traditional Eurovision national selections, Canada is choosing its artist first, with the winning performer then working with music industry professionals to develop the song and staging for the Contest.

Vote once a day for ten days until voting closes on November 5.

The songs provided below are not competing, they are just an indication of their music style. The public is voting on the artist with a Eurovision song to come after they are chosen.

Josiane

Josiane Comeau is a 25-year-old bilingual singer-songwriter from Dieppe, New Brunswick, who rose to prominence after winning the 2020 season of La Voix, Quebec's version of The Voice, having previously competed on The Voice Kids in France.

Her musical style blends contemporary pop, emotional ballads and powerful vocals, with songs performed in both French and English reflecting her Acadian heritage, while her single Lose It All has attracted more than six million streams and her debut album Take Care was released in March 2026.

Rêve

Rêve, whose real name is Briannah Donolo, is a singer-songwriter from Montreal, Quebec, known for English-language dance-pop that blends electronic music, disco, R&B, and 1990s Eurodance influences with catchy hooks and energetic performances.

She is also a self-described Eurovision fan who revealed during the show that she has been watching the Contest for more than ten years. If selected, she already has Eclipse producer Michael Fatkin lined up to work with.

She broke through in 2021 with Ctrl + Alt + Del, which went double platinum in Canada and won Dance Recording of the Year at the 2023 Juno Awards, while her follow-up hit Whitney topped the US dance radio chart and her debut album Saturn Return (2023) earned a Juno nomination for Pop Album of the Year.

TALK

TALK, whose real name is Nicholas Durocher, is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Ottawa, Ontario, who rose to international prominence with his 2021 single Run Away to Mars, which went viral on TikTok and has since attracted hundreds of millions of streams worldwide.

His English-language musical style blends alternative rock, indie rock and pop with powerful, raspy vocals, emotional ballads and anthemic choruses, while his debut album Lord of the Flies & Birds & Bees (2023) helped establish his international career.

He won Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2024 Juno Awards and has performed at major festivals including Lollapalooza, with his upcoming concept album The Ballad of Ozzy Moon set for release in early 2027.

Tyler Shaw

Tyler Shaw is a 33-year-old English-language pop singer and songwriter from British Columbia, Canada, who rose to prominence after winning the MuchMusic Coca-Cola Covers Contest in 2012 and releasing his platinum-selling debut single Kiss Goodnight.

The Chinese-Canadian performer also revealed during the show that he has Polish and Ukrainian heritage, adding another European connection to his Eurovision ambitions.

His musical style blends contemporary pop, romantic ballads and melodic dance-pop, with hits including With You, House of Cards and Love You Still, the latter becoming a viral international success on TikTok.

His career has included multiple Juno Award nominations, performances alongside Selena Gomez and Shawn Mendes, and tours across Canada and Europe, while his catalogue has accumulated more than 692 million global streams and 7.6 billion short-form video views.

William Cloutier

William Cloutier is a 31-year-old French-language pop singer and songwriter from Victoriaville, Quebec, who rose to prominence after winning the 2021 season of Star Académie, one of Canada's biggest televised singing competitions.

His musical style combines upbeat, danceable pop with powerful vocals and theatrical performances, drawing inspiration from artists such as Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars, while his career includes two albums, On ira (2022) and L'amour (2025).

Sometimes described as Quebec's Prince of Pop, he also has extensive international stage experience playing Johnny Rockfort in the French-language rock musical Starmania, performing the role more than 360 times across Europe and Quebec in front of over one million theatregoers.

Canada's Eurovision debut

Canada's arrival at Eurovision follows CBC/Radio-Canada becoming a full member of the European Broadcasting Union earlier this year, allowing the broadcaster to participate in the Contest for the first time.

The country has a long history of connections to Eurovision, most famously through Canadian superstar Céline Dion, who won the Contest for Switzerland in 1988 with Ne partez pas sans moi.

Canada will compete in one of the two Semi-Finals at Eurovision 2027 in Burgas, Bulgaria, on 11 and 13 May, with the Grand Final taking place on Saturday 15 May.
