SBS today confirmed that Australia will not be competing in Junior Eurovision 2020.
When reached out for comment from Aussievision, a SBS spokesperson stated,
"Due to the current travel restrictions and the ongoing uncertainty around this situation, Australia will not be competing in the Junior Eurovision Contest 2020. We have informed the EBU of our decision.”
This is the first time Australia has not competed in Junior Eurovision since making their debut at both the main and Junior contests since 2015.
Australia has reached the Top 10 on every occasion including 3rd place at both the 2018 contest with 'Champion' and 2017 with 'Speak Up'.
News on if and how the Junior Eurovision contest will be broadcast is yet to be confirmed.
