Athena wins Depi Evratesil - will represent Armenia at Eurovision in Rotterdam

Earlier this morning, Greek-Armenian singer Athena Manoukian won Armenia’s selection for Eurovision 2020, Depi Evratesil.

After a twelve year journey to Eurovision, beginning back in 2008 when Athena attempted to represent Greece at Junior Eurovision with ‘To Fili Tis Aphroditis’, Athena will travel to Rotterdam this year, taking up Srbuk’s mantle from 2019.

Athena was one of the more experienced artists in Depi Evratesil, with a run on X Factor UK (2018) under her belt, as well as numerous singles, one of which, ‘XO’, had its music video filmed in Sydney, Australia!

Winning the competition with 168 points, Athena won both the jury votes (International and Armenian) and came third in the televote, with Vladimir Arzumanyan, who previously won Junior Eurovision for Armenia in 2010, winning the televote.

Finishing in second place overall was ERNA with ‘Life Faces’ on 120 points and rounding out the top three was Vladimir Arzumanyan and ‘What’s Going On Mama’ with 118 points.

‘Chains On You’ was co-written by Athena and DJ Paco, with Athena having previously acted as songwriter for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest Winner, Helena Paparizou, on the song ‘Palia Mou Agapi’.
