The most notable name is Monika Marija, who last year had entered two entries, “Criminal” and “Light On” with the latter entry getting her a runner-up finish. 2019 was a successful year for Monika where she was the winning coach in both The Voice of Lithuania. Kids (Lietuvos balsas. Vaika) and The Voice of Lithuania. Senior edition (Lietuvos balsas. Senjorai). Hopefully her luck carries on to this years national final. Monika Marija's 2020 national final song "If I Leave" is to be officially released on January 6. (Her single cover for "If I Leave" is featured as the main article image).
Another female soloist to watch out for is Aistė Pilvelytė who in 2019 will make her 10th attempt in the Lithuanian National Finals. She first entered in 1999 with her song “Awakening Heart”. She last competed in 2017 with the song “I’m Like a Wolf” where she just missed out going to Eurovision finishing as runner-up. She also finished in the runner-up position in 2008 and 2010.
It will be Gabrielius Vagelis’ fifth attempt. He first tried in 2013 where he submitted two songs, “Sacrifice” and a duet with Ieva Zasimauskaitė called “I Fall in Love”. The duet entry reached the final, but came in at 5th place and missed out on the Superfinal. His best result as a solo singer was in 2017 where he reached 5th place with “Feel Myself Free”. He last participated in 2018 with “The Distant” where he reached Semi Final 1 but finished up in last place.
Aika is no stranger to Eurovision. In 2017 she was the supporting vocalist for the band Fusedmarc who represented Lithuania in the Contest in Kiev. Previous to that in 2016 she participated in the Lithuanian National final with “Be Free” under her real name Jekaterina Fiodorova. She changed to her stage name aika in 2018.
Petunija returns after her last national final attempt in 2016 with her song “Tomorrow” which got knocked out in show 6.
From the 2018 National Final we see Ruta Loop and THE ROOP return. Ruta Loop reached the final through an online wildcard round with her song “Positive Thoughts” but missed out on the Super Final. The group THE ROOP had better success they reached the Super Final and came in third place with “Yes, I Do”.
Others who are making their return after competing in last years national final include:
Alen Chicco who finished up in 5th place with "Your Cure”.
Glossarium who got knocked out of the Semi Final 1 with their song “Anyone”.
Voldemars Petersons with his song “Dancing With The Stars”. Unfortunately he didn’t make it past Heat 3.
One to closely watch who is making her debut in the Lithuanian national final is the Lithuanian X Factor winner and future coach for Lietuvos Balsas - The Voice of Lithuania, Moniqué. Her national final entry “Make Me Human” is written by Vytautas Bikus who composed Lithuania’s 2018 Eurovision entry “When We’re Old” by Ieva Zasimauskaitė which finished in 12th place in the Eurovision Grand Final. So we suspect a ballad for Moniqué, but here is a taste of one of her popular pop hits.
Only several artists have released their 2020 National Final song so far with the following available to stream on YouTube and Spotify
aika “Paradas"
Andy Vaic "Why Why Why”
Gabrielius Vagelis "Tave čia randu"
