Albania is currently holding its selection process for Eurovision 2025 and an Aussie is in the running.

The Balkan nation chooses its entries through the annual music event, Festivali i Këngës.

The festival has been running since 1962, far before Albania's Eurovision debut in 2004.

This year's event had 30 entries compete in the semi-finals with 15 advances to Monday's final.

Among the finalists is rock group Djemtë e Deti with their song Larg.

And they have at least one Australian connection we know of.

The composer of their entry and front man of the band is Valentin Markvukaj, who lives in Adelaide and has done so for several decades.

Since 2014, he has run his own studio in the city called VMSound.

You can find out more about Valentin at his website https://www.valentin-m.com/

The final of Festivali i Këngës takes place Monday 23 December (Sunday evening in Europe) at the following times:

4:00am - Western Australia

5:30am - Northern Territory

6:00am - Queensland

6:30am - South Australia

7:00am - New South Wales, Victoria, ACT & Tasmania

You can watch it live on the Albanian broadcaster's YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/@RadioTelevizioniShqiptar
