Ukraine's entry for Junior Eurovision 2020 revealed

Over the weekend Ukraine officially announced their artist for Junior Eurovision 2020, with Oleksandr Balabanov to represent the country in Warsaw.

He will sing the song ‘Vidkryvay’, which in English means ‘Open’.

He is the first boy to represent Ukraine at Junior Eurovision since 2009.

The Ukrainian National Final was held virtually and was decided with a jury vote (8 total votes) and an online public vote (1 public vote).

Even before the National Final officially finished, the jury results were revealed showing that Oleksandr was far enough ahead that he couldn't be caught.

Despite that, the public vote went ahead with Oleksandr finishing 4th out of 11 entries.

The eight person jury which decided the results included the likes of 2016 Eurovision winner Jamala and former host of Junior Eurovision and Eurovision Timur Miroshnychenko.

Ukraine will be looking to improve on last year’s result, where Sophia Ivanko finished 15th in Gliwice-Silesia.

Junior Eurovision 2020 will take place in Poland’s capital Warsaw on Sunday 29th November at 5pm CET (3am Monday 30th November Australian Eastern Standard Time).
